Receiving media attention and major reviews for our work is almost half the battle for an independent press. You can’t imagine the hours that go into approaching journalists and trying to grab peoples interest. So when a book does suddenly take off completely out of the blue we’re more surprised than anyone!
You can imagine the excitement then, when we discovered – through Twitter of all places – that our latest book, Peirene Now! No. 3 Shatila Stories, had been reviewed in The Guardian!
Melissa Harrison not only took the time to look into our project but also called Shatila Stories ‘a literary achievement as well as an act of witness.’
We’re completely over the moon to see Shatila Stories in The Guardian and can’t wait to get a copy of the story in print come Saturday! If you want to read the review online you can do so here: https://www.theguardian.com/books/2018/jul/11/shatila-stories-suhir-helal-review?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
