I’m sure you have all seen how excited our subscribers have been about Shadows on the Tundra. Well, today’s the day! This amazing book is now available for all readers to purchase, and now you, too, can learn the true story of Dalia Grinkevičiūtė.
In 1941, 14-year-old Dalia Grinkevičiūtė and her family are deported from their native Lithuania to a labour camp in Siberia. As the strongest member of her family the girl submits to sixteen hours a day of manual labour. At the age of 21, Dalia escapes the Gulag and returns to Lithuania. She writes her memories on scraps of paper and buries them in a glass jar in the garden, fearing they might be discovered by the KGB. They are not found until 1991, four years after her death.
This is the story Dalia Grinkevičiūtė buried.
Translated from its original Lithuanian text, Dalia’s heartbreaking story of survival will grip you from its first pages. I’ll be reading it myself over the next few days, so order your copy soon to join me! Get your copy here: https://www.peirenepress.com/shop/books/shadows-on-the-tundra/.
