The shortlist for the 2021 Peirene Stevns Translation Prize has now been revealed.
After a record-breaking number of entries, our judges have whittled them down to a shortlist of ten translators – view the list here. The judges will meet next week to decide on their winner, which will be announced on April 15th.
Judge Gesche Ipsen said:
“This was a particularly challenging, dense and tricky passage to tackle, and I congratulate all those who entered on the hard work they evidently put into their submissions. The line was sometimes a very fine one, but the shortlisted entries distinguished themselves in that they not only were sensitive to the text’s many subtleties and complexities but, just as crucially, produced a smooth and dynamic English version.”
Congratulations to the shortlisted translators, and thank you to all who entered the prize this year!
